NTUC-Education and Training Fund

The NTUC-Education and Training Fund (NETF) was set up to help our working people in skills upgrading and re-skilling.
NTUC members and U Network members are able to enjoy training subsidies under the following NETF programmes:

  1. Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)
  2. UTAP for Online/Blended Courses by Institutes of Higher Learning
  3. UTAP Development Series

Union members can tap on more than 2,800 training courses to enjoy course fee subsidy, capped at a maximum of $250 per year, under the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) supported by the NETF. U Network members will also enjoy subsidy on selected courses, capped at a maximum of $50 per year.

    What is UTAP?

    UTAP is a training benefit for NTUC members to defray their cost of training. This benefit is to encourage more union members to go for skills upgrading.

     

    How much is the grant?

    NTUC members enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support for up to $250 each year when you sign up for courses supported under UTAP.

    Who can apply?

    All NTUC member can apply for UTAP. However, the following criteria must be met to be eligible for UTAP:
    1. Paid-up union membership before course commenced, throughout whole course duration and at the point of claim
    2. Course by training provider must be supported under UTAP, and training must commence within the supported period
    3. Course must not be fully funded through company sponsorship or other types of funding
    4. Unfunded course fee must be S$20.00 and above
    5. You must achieve a minimum of 75% attendance for each application and sat for all prescribed examination(s), if any
    6. UTAP application must be submitted within 6 months after course completion

    How do I check my NTUC membership status?

    1. You may check your NTUC membership status by calling our hotline at 6213 8008 and select the following options
    2. Press 1 for member
    3. Provide your NRIC number
    4. Press 1 again to check your membership status

    How to apply for UTAP?

    • Step 1: Click on 'Search Course' under the Skills Upgrade Available tab to find out if your course & training provider is supported under UTAP.
    • Step 2: Register for course with training provider and attend training. For course information and enrolment, please contact the training provider.
    • Step 3: Login to your U Portal account to submit your UTAP application. Please apply for your UTAP claim within 6 months after course end. Late application will be rejected.
    Note:
    1. To support your UTAP claim, you may be requested to submit a copy of your course certificate/tax invoice/statement of attendance via e-mail. Please ensure that you kept a copy of your supporting documents for audit checks when necessary.
    2. Before applying for UTAP, please ensure your training commences within the supported period. Application of UTAP on training that starts after the expiry date will be rejected.
    3. Only Ordinary Branch (OB), General Branch (GB) and OB/UCLUB members who are paying $117/year will be eligible.
     
  • UTAP for Online/Blended Courses by Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs)
    Learn more effectively at your own pace! In partnership with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS), NETF supports a suite of blended/online courses to encourage NTUC members and U Network members to take up such courses to keep up with technology and industry development.

    What are the UTAP supported Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) courses from NTU?

    For more information on the UTAP supported Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) courses from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), please click here. Click on the respective links to find out the TEL modules that are stackable to Specialist Certificate and Graduate Certificate.     What are the UTAP supported online/blended courses from SUSS?

    How much is the training subsidy?

    NTUC Member

    NTUC members enjoy 75% unfunded course fee support for up to $250 per year when you sign up for online/blended courses by NTU and SUSS supported under UTAP.

    Other than Affiliated Trade Unions of NTUC, U Network comprises of members of the Associate Affiliates of NTUC, U Associates and Labour Movement Communities such as UPME, USME partners and UFSE partners. U Network members can enjoy 25% of unfunded course fee support capped at $50 per year when you sign up for online/blended courses by NTU and SUSS supported under UTAP.     Eligibility Criteria
    All U Network members can apply, subject to the following criteria:
    1. Registered with NTUC as a U Network Member
    2. Course by training provider must be supported under UTAP, and training must commence within the supported period
    3. Course must not be fully funded through company sponsorship or other types of funding
    4. Unfunded course fee must be S$20.00 and above
    5. You must achieve a minimum of 75% attendance for each application and sat for all prescribed examination(s), if any
    6. UTAP application must be submitted with the course providers at the point of registration
    How do I check if I am a U Network Member?
    An email confirmation will be send to you once you’ve signed up to become a U Network member. Alternatively, you may access the U Network card via MyNTUC mobile app with your registered U Portal account. If you have forgotten your U Portal password, please go to www.ntuc.org.sg to request for a new password.
    Note:

    Individual who has signed up as both NTUC member as well as U Network member will enjoy the same training subsidy for NTUC members i.e. overall subsidy cap of $250 per year per NTUC member.
