Overview

Singapore’s hotel industry has experienced a steady, healthy growth with an increase of $4 million in profit for the Total Room Revenue, with an 86% room occupancy across all hotels in 2018. Coupled with an increase in tourist arrivals to 18.5 million in 2018, the demand for manpower in this industry is set to increase.

How does e2i support the Hotels industry?

For Individuals

Placement

  1. e2i has been working closely with hospitality industry partners to develop multi-skilling programmes for new hires. Several Place-and-Train and Professional Conversion Programmes were introduced so as to encourage and create ease for mid-career switchers to join the hotel sector.

  2. Learning Journey to Marina Bay Sands - e2i supported MBS in the development of robotic cutlery roll up system where it can roll 3,500 napkins daily to support high banqueting volume. The robotic arm, which can roll 160 napkins in an hour, is able to do the work of its staff, who can then be redeployed to do higher-value jobs. As this pilot is a first of its kind in Singapore, a learning journey was organised to share with 25 hospitality partners on this latest technology and the data analytic method adopted by MBS, using demand forecasting and data triangulation to improve manpower allocation.

  3. e2i regularly invites local and international speakers to the masterclass workshops, to share industry knowledge with the hotel workers. Through these masterclasses, workers can continuously upskill and reskill themselves, and improve their position as an asset to their organisation.

e2i collaborated on a masterclass for hoteliers with the Hospitality & Consumer Business Cluster and the Association of Singapore Housekeepers in 2018. An international speaker from Japan was invited to share with the hoteliers Japan’s best hospitality practices. A certifiable training course was also conducted to skill the hoteliers in reviewing hotel processes with the use of data analysis for increased productivity. A total of 85 local hoteliers received a training certificate after the completion of a short quiz hosted on e2i’s ULeap platform.
