NTUC’s e2i and SCCCI push out recruitment efforts to support local SMEs in sectors with improved hiring sentiments to match Singaporeans to ready jobs
- Amidst the COVID-19 induced uncertainty, there are groups of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) who are faced with improved hiring intent especially in sectors such as Food & Beverages (F&B), Logistics, MedTech and Electronics, where businesses remain positive. As an appointed Jobs Development Partner (JDP) by the National Jobs Council, National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) is proactively working with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and its members to support local SMEs in their recruitment efforts to match a ready pool of job-seekers to these jobs.
Call for more locals to join local businesses in growth sectors
- Eight Trade Associations under the umbrella of SCCCI have rallied together to do a joint recruitment to support SMEs to cope with their manpower challenges. With e2i’s pool of job seekers and networks, SCCCI and e2i hope to bridge manpower gaps by rallying Singaporeans to tap on job opportunities and join local businesses who are on uptick with ready jobs.
SGUnited-e2i Trade Associations Career & Skills Discovery
- Today’s “SGUnited-e2i Trade Associations Career & Skills Discovery” is a one-of-its-kind career fair specially put together with the combined efforts of SCCCI, e2i and 8 Trade Associations mobilising 70 SMEs across various sectors and hiring over 1000 positions. More than half of the vacancies are for Professional, Manager, Executive and Technician (PMET) level such as: System Analyst, Engineers, Advance Manufacturing Manager and Mobile Application Developer. 12 employers were present at Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability to conduct interviews and job seekers pre-register online to book interview slots. A virtual career fair is also held in-conjunction with today’s physical fair that will last till 31 May 2021.
- Chief Executive Officer of e2i and Assistant Director-General of NTUC, Mr Gilbert Tan said, “NTUC’s e2i is always at the forefront in proactively reaching out to industries to bridge local job seekers to good jobs. We are glad to work closely with SCCCI to benefit SMEs and TACs to support them in their recruitment and job-redesign efforts as SMEs adapt their business models to cope with the challenges ahead.
