Uni Career Gateway
The First-ever Uni Career Gateway Brings Hiring Employers, Industry Information And Job Search Skills To Singaporean Undergraduates And Fresh Graduates; Helping Them Make Well-informed Career Decisions
For the first time, the National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) has organised a one-day career fair at the Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability specially for Singaporean undergraduates and fresh graduates. The event targets to attract some 500 participants. It has also received the support from various local tertiary institutions like MDIS, NTU, NUS, PSB, SMU, SUTD and UniSIM.
The inaugural event will feature 24 companies (Please refer to Annex A for full listing.) from over 6 industries such as Manufacturing, Hospitality, Marine/Maritime, Banking & Finance, and Information Technology, offering over 80 positions and 400 vacancies. Participants will have the opportunity to network with the employers from various industries, as well as to go for on-the-spot interviews.
One highlight of the career fair is the career booster sessions including Executive Career Management Talk, Psychometric Assessment Workshop and an interview booster workshop. Participants are encouraged to sign up for career booster sessions prior to attending the event. These booster sessions will equip students with the self-awareness and skill sets important to enhance their job search efforts and prepare them for job interviews.
Industry experts from the Maritime, Cyber-Security and Early Childhood Education industries will also be present to provide useful insights and career progression pathways about working in these sectors during the sharing sessions.
e2i has also partnered two training providers who are situated at Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability; namely Wavelink Maritime Institute and DigiSAFE Cyber Security Centre by ST Electronics (Info-Security); to conduct experiential tours at their training facilities. Participants will be brought through a simulated work environment and receive first-hand experience of working on-board a ship at Wavelink Maritime Institute, as well as be exposed to the skill sets needed to respond to real-life cyber threats at ST Electronics (Info-Security)’s DigiSAFE Cyber Security Centre.
Mr Gilbert Tan, CEO of e2i said, “The Uni Career Gateway brings together hiring employers, industry information and job search skills to help undergraduates and fresh graduates in their job search efforts. We hope to offer more of such career services to students so that these young individuals can be equipped with the skills sets, tools and industry know-how to help them make well-informed career decisions and secure a good job.”
