NTUC’s e2i Launches Various Initiatives With Strategic Partners To Bring More Job Opportunities And Skills Advisory Services To Singaporeans
Singapore, 17 August 2024 – NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) announced today that it has collaborated with its strategic partners, including Forest Wolf, Jobstreet Express, NTUC LearningHub, and Sembawang GRC to bring more job opportunities to Singaporeans, through the launch of a slew of career coaching and job matching initiatives for job seekers. Amidst business restructuring and subdued global economic conditions, these initiatives aim to support and connect job seekers to meaningful jobs with employers. They augment e2i’s expanded network of career centres and touchpoints, in addition to digital tools and resources made available to support Singaporeans as they navigate through today’s dynamic job market.
Bringing more job opportunities to Singaporeans
Graced by Minister for Health and Grassroots Adviser to Sembawang GRC Grassroots Organisations, Mr Ong Ye Kung, e2i brought 4,500 jobs such as Professionals, Managers, Executive and Technicians (PMET) jobs, flexible work and micro-jobs amongst others to the e2i Skills & Career Fair @ Sembawang held in the North West region of Singapore. These jobs were curated together with Jobstreet Express and community partners. 24 employers conducted on-site interviews, and more opportunities were made available through e2i’s newly launched Heartland Job Portal. e2i will also be working with the North West Community Development Council to bring more job fairs to the district and support skills upgrading through the Learning Journey booth by SkillsFuture Advice @ North West.
More e2i touchpoints for Singaporeans
e2i has partnered ServiceSG to extend career coaching, job matching and skills advisory services across ServiceSG Centres islandwide. The locations in the North include Bukit Canberra, Nee Soon Central Community Club, and at the upcoming new ServiceSG Centre opening in Woodlands Civic Centre by the end of 2024.
Spearheaded by e2i and supported by ServiceSG, several workshops and job events will be rolled out at different ServiceSG Centres across Singapore, targeted at PMETs. The workshops aim to impact over 10,000 PMETs – with a focus on career planning, progression and prospecting. They officially kickstarted today at ServiceSG@Bukit Canberra, with support from knowledge partner and CEO of Forest Wolf, Ms Crystal Lim-Lange.
Greater support for vulnerable and retrenched workers
Witnessed by Minister Ong, an MOU between e2i and NTUC LearningHub was signed today to design upskilling programmes for vulnerable workers affected by business transformation. These programmes aim to bridge the gap between current skills and those required for future jobs. Through this partnership, e2i and NTUC LearningHub will collaborate to make jobs and skills advisory services more accessible to Singaporeans through NTUC LearningHub’s sale centres located in Ang Mo Kio Hub, Causeway Point, CompassOne, Jurong Point, Northpoint, and Tampines Mall.
Another MOU was signed between e2i, JobStreet Express, and MCI Career Services to reach out to more Singaporeans for employment and employability assistance.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), e2i, Ms Caryn Lim said, “Through our collaboration with our strategic partners, e2i’s tailored initiatives aim to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers and foster a resilient and agile workforce that is able to adapt to the fast-evolving business landscape. Our partnership with People’s Association and Sembawang GRC underscores our commitment to bring meaningful employment opportunities to the heartlands, ensuring that Singaporeans can achieve their career aspirations.”
