As part of ongoing efforts to provide quality career services to Singapore’s resident workforce, the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) have consolidated their network of career centres.
With effect from 1 October 2016:

1. WDA’s Career Centre at Jurong will merge with e2i’s existing Career Services Centre. The merged centre, to be called e2i West and based at the Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability, will deliver dedicated and focused career support and placement services for residents, especially those from the western part of Singapore.
2. WDA’s career centre at Toa Payoh will be renamed e2i Central and will come under the management of e2i for operational synergy, further signifying the strong partnership between WDA and e2i.
3. While e2i will operate two career centres, WDA will continue to operate the three career centres located at Paya Lebar, Tampines and Woodlands. The reorganisation enables WDA to focus on its upstream role as a strategic integrator for employment facilitation for the entire workforce.

Job seekers registered with any of these five career centres will receive similar services. The career centres will continue to maintain strong partnerships with the Community Development Councils (CDCs) under the People’s Association, and the Social Service Offices (SSOs) under the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) in providing employment assistance to individuals.
Mr Ng Cher Pong, Chief Executive of WDA, said: “Our career centres are important touch-points for individuals who require career services and job placement assistance. Between January and June 2016, WDA and e2i helped to place 8,800 jobseekers, a 21% increase compared to the average number of placements achieved within six months in 2015. The reorganised network of career centres will enable WDA to better plan and implement more comprehensive and differentiated employment facilitation services to better support individuals in their career journey”.
Mr Gilbert Tan, Chief Executive of e2i, said: “The consolidation of career centres will enable greater synergy for us to connect more working people to our extensive network of partners for better skills and job opportunities. This will help tap on e2i’s strong expertise in the areas of career guidance, professional development and creation of training and job matching initiatives. The focus now is to ensure a smooth transition of operations, and we look forward to offer employment and employability assistance to more Singaporeans in the heartlands.”
